What We Do

Since 1809, the Bible Society of Maine has been committed to getting God’s Word into the Hands, Heads and Hearts of the people of Maine.

 We seek to fulfill this mission by:

•  Distributing the Scriptures, through both at cost sales, and full or partial grants to qualifying ministries or outreach projects;

• Promoting the regular reading and greater use of God’s Word in daily life; and

• Providing Bible information and education.

Our services are available to all Christian churches and ministries and to individuals. Scriptures are available, without doctrinal note or interpretive comment, in most current English translations and many world languages. We are committed to strengthening the local church, which is the primary agency of God’s work in the world.

How We Do It?

Our Office & Scripture Center has catalogues and materials from the American Bible Society, the International Bible Society (Biblica) and other publishers. Bibles, New Testaments, Scripture portions and selections are available in several English versions and a number of world languages. We also have Children’s Bibles and Bible Storybooks, Youth Bibles, items for targeted outreach, audio and video materials, and Bible reference books.

A supply of materials is on hand for immediate purchase. Other items may be ordered. Direct shipping is available.

We provide consultant services on Scripture resources to meet your needs.

 Our Executive Director & Board are available to speak about Bible Society work, to preach God’s Word, to lead Bible-focused retreats, and to conduct workshops on Scripture topics.
