Bible Society Of Maine

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit,
between joints and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and
exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.
Hebrews 4:12-13 (NLT)

Be a part of our ongoing initiative -  "Light Up the World" ... reaching those in need of Bibles and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ statewide, overseas and on the sidewalks of our inner cities.

In March 2017, we donated the Bible to the Maine Historical Society's Museum located in the Wadsworth-Longfellow House, 489 Congress St., Portland.

We invite you to visit and view the Bible.

What We Do

Since 1809, the Bible Society of Maine has been committed to placing God’s Word into the Hands, Heads and Hearts of the people of Maine.
We seek to fulfill this mission by:

  •  Distributing the Scriptures, through both at cost sales, and full or partial grants to qualifying ministries or outreach projects;
  • Leading Bible Studies at the Cumberland County Jail
  • Partnering with like-minded Christian outreaches such as the Salvation Army and Teen Challenge.
  • Promoting the regular reading and greater use of God’s Word in daily life; and
  • Providing Bible information and education.

Our services are available to all Christian churches and ministries and to individuals. Scriptures are available, without doctrinal note or interpretive comment, in most current English translations and many world languages. We are committed to strengthening the local church, which is the primary agency of God’s work in the world

The Bible Society
& Language Bibles
In recent years, we have been able to provide both English language Bibles and many foreign language scriptures to those fleeing to the U.S. from countries in Africa. In addition, we work with the Root Cellar of Greater Portland assisting this population to learn English, as well as encouraging them to trust God's promises found in the Word.
If you are interested in volunteering to help the Bible Society of Maine in our outreaches, please contact Jim Duran at 712-0282 or e-mail: bibleme@charter.net

Bible Basketball
Youth Event

On July 22, BSM's "Champions for Jesus" outreach gathered young people (ages 10-14) for a time of fun, learning to grow in their faith, and enjoying pizza and snacks.

It was held at the Westbrook Community Center Gymnasium
where we combined Bible verse memorization with basketball skills and challenges.

Players memorized Bible verses to earn points for their team and then attempted fouls shots and lay-ups for additional points.

Over 30 "Extreme Faith" Bibles were gifted  to the youngsters who will use them to be a "Champion for Jesus."
If your church would like to learn more about our "Champion for Jesus" outreach, please contact Jim Duran at the email below
